History

In 2004, Amanda Steinberger created an All-Star Cheerleading program in South Delta after six successful years as founder and Head Coach of South Delta Secondary Senior Competitive Cheer Squad.  She teamed up with an amazing coaching staff, including Briar Wilson, a former 8-year cheerleader, cheer Captain and founder and Head Coach of the Junior team at South Delta Secondary, and started Westcoast Cheer with the goal of opening up the opportunity of competitive cheerleading to all Delta female youth 4-18 years old instead of just at the high school level.

Setting up home base in the gym of a South Delta school called “L’Ecole du Bois-Joli”, the program attracted athletes from Tsawwassen, Ladner, North Delta, and Vancouver.  Beginning with the initial teams, the Westcoast Wildcats experienced a successful first season and made a powerful impact on All-Star Cheerleading.

In the emerging years that followed Westcoast Cheer had some changes in directors and coaches and moved through a variety of cheer programs including competitive elite teams, prep teams, individual and group stunts, recreational programs, competitive dance teams and a growing number of development programs.  New athletes arrived from Richmond and Surrey also and the competition became stiffer as more Lower Mainland all-star organizations opened up.  We now have a successful formula for our annual program and competitions, a strong following of return athletes, and development training year round.

Westcoast Cheer holds numerous awards and trophies for our outstanding performances from 2004 to the present.  Our teams have travelled annually for competitions and won throughout the Lower Mainland as well as Ontario Canada, California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington State and even Hawaii.
